Synopsis:

"Amal" is an intimate, one-woman theatrical show that explores the complex relationship between a daughter and her absent father, set against the backdrop of generational trauma from the Partition of India. Amal’s father, grapples with his fractured identity, struggling to find a sense of belonging to his country, language, and roots. Through Amal’s eyes, the play traces her journey from childhood to adulthood, as she attempts to understand the choices and absence of her father, while also reconciling with her own sense of self. With themes of hate, reconciliation, and the search for identity, Amal is a reflection on the long shadow cast by history on personal lives, and the enduring desire to heal familial and generational wounds.
